Fibonaci Lampshade

This very sexy, utterly innovative lampshade by Swiss designer Alain Jost looks fabulous. The structure of the lampshade is based on the ‘Fibonacci’ spiral. Leonardo Fibonacci (1170 – 1250) was an Italian mathematician who observed a certain recurring sequence in the field of biology: such as the spiral arrangement on a pine cone, seashells, sunflower heads, etc. He developed a mathematical equation to express this observation: based on two initial values each number is the sum of the two preceding numbers.

The shade is made from silicone, which is heat resistant & can be used with any kind of light bulb (we recommend the unattractive energy saver whose appearance will be obscured by this beauty. Simply pull the shade over a standard lampholder. Then enjoy the beautiful result. Size: Ø 38 x 2 cm (when flat); Ø 34 x 20 cm H (suspended). Available only in pure white and presented flat in striking embossed box.

Kate – L is a very leggy lamp as her name suggests… And while playing on the notion of positive & negative space she employs the illusion of perhaps being more than what appears to be – her sinuous 2D body is in fact a cut-out shape! But her lamp ‘head’ is 3D & does actually light up subtly… The whole comprises the most minimally sexy upright lamp we have ever chanced upon.
